About the Film: First Americans Museum challenges the idea that institutionally collected objects no longer have familial ties to cultural communities. WINIKO: Reunions shares the museum’s work reuniting institutionally collected cultural materials with their related communities and families. FAM worked with 135 items on loan from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and the 39 Tribal Nations in Oklahoma to generate a practice. They believe the work is a benefit to the tribal communities, collecting institutions, and museum audiences. (Run time: 45 minutes)
